Team Green Two--An Americorps Program Benefits For Piper's

 

NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a government-funded organization geared toward young adults who are interested in community service.  Service is performed in five major categories:  the environment, unmet human needs, education, public safety, and disaster relief.  Members of this program will receive an educational award upon completion of 1700 service hours.  This award must be used to pay for higher education.

Serving presently at Piper's is AmeriCorps Green Two Team.

Kathleen Apakupakul (team leader) hails from Windsor, Virginia and is 27 years old.

Alice Andeer, 20, is from Birmingham, MI.

Zanely Bhoge, 18, is from Dedham, MA.

Nathan Blomquist, 18, hails from Shakopee, MN.

Danielle Burnside, 22, is from Philadelphia, PA.

Julie Buynak, 23, is from Canton, OH.

Adam Fillmore, 21 is from Ballston Spa, NY.

Jaclyn MacClary, 18, is from Binghamton, NY.

Cara Simpkins, 24, is from Warrenton, VA.

Mike White, 22, hails from Windsor, NC

Amy Wyman, 20, is from Maple Grove, MN.

This fine group of young people are serving Piper's in many a varied tasks which could not be done without their assistance.  They are getting the full sense of Comstock life--sleeping at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, showering at the Fire House, and meals at the Senior Center.  The team also assists in after-school programs at the  Community Chest.
